It is proposed to fill one post of Library & Information Officer (LIO) in the Library & Information Cadre of the Ministry of External Affars on deputation basis for a period of three years initially from amongst officers holding analogus posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department; or with seven years regular service in posts in level 7 in the pay matrix Rs.44900-142400, working in Central Government orState Government or Union Territories or Autonomous or Statutory Organisation or Public Sector Undertakings or Univerisity or Recognised Research Institutions; and possesing the following educational qualifications and experience:-
Qualification:
- A master’s degree in library science or library and information science from an accredited institution or university is required;
- Five years of professional experience working for the state or federal government in a library
- A public sector undertaking, an autonomous government organisation, or
- A university or other reputable research or teaching facility.
- One year experience of computerising library activities in a library under the Central
Government or State Government or autonomous or statutory organisation or public sector
undertaking or University or recognised research or educational institution; or - one year of experience utilising library management software for document indexing, abstracting, and retrieval; or
- Diploma in Computer Application from a recognised University or Institute; or
- Certificate course of six months duration in one or two foreign languages other than
English from a recognised University or Institute. - The total length of the deputation (including short-term contracts) and the deputation in another ex-cadre position held immediately before to this appointment in the same or a different Central Government organisation or department should typically not exceed four years. The maximum age for deputation appointments (including short-term contracts) shall not be greater than 56 years old as of the application submission deadline.
