NHRC Online Short Term Internship Programme 2026
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, has launched its Online Short Term Internship Programme for early 2026. The initiative aims to promote human rights literacy, awareness, and advocacy among university students across India.
About the Internship
The Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) is a two-week online internship designed for students from diverse academic backgrounds who are keen to understand and contribute to human rights protection and promotion in India.
- 💻 Mode: Online (Virtual)
- 🗓️ Duration: Two weeks (as per NHRC announcement timeline)
- 🎓 No. of Seats: Approximately 80 interns selected per batch
- 💰 Stipend: ₹2,000/- upon successful completion
- 📜 Certificate: Provided after meeting attendance and participation requirement
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
Eligible candidates must meet the following conditions:
✔ Students in the 3rd year & above of any Integrated 5-year PG course
✔ Students in the 3rd / final year of a graduate degree course
✔ Students of any semester/year of a postgraduate degree/diploma course
✔ Research scholars in any stream
✔ Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent academic courses
✔ Age not exceeding 28 years (standard NHRC eligibility practice)
✔ Students who have not previously attended NHRC internship programmes
Selection Process
Selection is competitive and based on the following:

📌 Statement of Purpose (SOP) explaining the applicant’s motivation to join the internship
📌 Other parameters as defined by NHRC in its official notification
What Interns Will Learn
