About IIRS :
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space, Govt. of India is a premier Training and Educational Institute set up for developing trained professionals in the field of Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics and GNSS Technology for Natural Resources, Environmental and Disaster Management. Formerly known as Indian Photo-interpretation Institute (IPI), founded in 1966, the Institute boasts to be the first of its kind in entire South-East Asia.
Course 1 : One Day Workshop on Utilities of Sun-Induced Chlorophyll Florescence in Vegetation Studies
ISRO invite you to attend this online workshop on “Utilities of Sun-Induced Chlorophyll Florescence in Vegetation Studies”. The workshop is scheduled on July 18, 2024. It will comprise lectures related to
various aspects of SIF applications in vegetation studies. The lectures will be delivered by the
faculty from IIRS and invited experts.
Overview of the Course :
The course is conducted through IIRS outreach facility. IIRS has successfully conducted 211 courses so far through its outreach programme with 803542 participants from 3572+ Institutions/ Universities (as of 28th June , 2024) spread across India.
Objective of the Course : To familiarize academicians and researchers about the utility of SIF in vegetation studies.
Content: Basic principles of Ch flouresence and sun-induced chl flouresence, Use of hand held flourometer for vegetation studies, Simulation of SIF using RTM models, Retrieval of SIF from
satellite observations, satellite SIF products, utlisation for SIF for vegetation productivity and
stress studies
Target Participants :
The course is designed for the researchers and students (at least Graduate) engaged in the field of
ecology, vegetation science, environmental studies, geospatial technology and modelling
Award of Certificate:
All the participants who attend the programme through e-class portal will get a e-certificate for participation.

Course 2: One Day Workshop on Potential of NISAR for Disaster Management
Curriculum :
Radar working principle, and Radar in Remote Sensing
o Interaction of Microwaves with atmosphere and targets on the earth surface
o Potential of NISAR Mission and its applications
o SAR interferometry and multi-temporal InSAR Techniques for land deformation analysis
Target Participants :
The candidates who want to participate in the course should be students of a final-year undergraduate course or postgraduate course (any year) and citizens of India
Pre Requisistes :
- Basic concepts of Physics
Award of Certificate :
Registered through Nodal centres : Based on 70% attendance, students will be awarded a “Courses
Participation Certificate.”
Individual Registration: A “Course Participation” certificate will be given to everyone who devotes at
least 70% of each session’s hours to the course. Thecourse participation certificate will be available for
download in ISRO LMS.
