Human Resource Development is essentially education, which plays an important and remedial role in balancing the country’s socio-economic fabric. Since Indian citizens are its most valuable resource, in order to achieve a better quality of life, our billion-strong nation needs the nurture and care in the form of basic education. This needs our citizens’ all-round growth which can be accomplished by creating solid educational foundations. Pursuant to this mission, on September 26, 1985, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) was created through the 174th amendment to the Rules of the Government of India (Business Allocation), 1961. At present the MHRD is working through two departments.
While the Department of School Education and Literacy is responsible for the development of the country’s school education and literacy, the Department of Higher Education is responsible for what is one of the world’s largest higher education systems, just after the United States and China.
The SE & L Dept has their eyes set on “universalizing education” and making our young brigade better citizens. To this end, numerous new schemes and initiatives are constantly and recently taken up, such schemes and initiatives have already started to pay dividends in the form of rising enrolment in schools.
