About the Course:
Forests are our natural defense against climate change and providers of critical ecosystem services vital for human well-being. They also harbor a greater range of biodiversity than any other terrestrial ecosystems on Earth. Therefore, effective monitoring and precise assessment of forest structure, composition, function and anthropogenic pressure are essential to understand the forest ecosystem response to climate change and in sustainable management of forest. Ever-evolving geospatial technology is an effective tool for assessment, monitoring and management of forest ecosystem. The course brings both theoretical as well as use cases on how geospatial technology can be effectively applied to better understand and manage the forest ecosystems
Who can Apply?
The candidates who want to participate in should be a graduate, postgraduate or final year postgraduate student of Environmental Science/Life Science/Scientific Staff of Central/State Government/Faculty/Researchers at University/institutions are also eligible to apply for this course.

Overview on application of geospatial technology in forest ecosystem studies:
- Geospatial application for forest biomass assessment.
- Geospatial application for forest productivity assessment.
- Geospatial application for biodiversity study for conservation planning.
- Forest monitoring using publically available EO data & cloud resource.
